Quick Tip - Butter

It always happens in my house...the table is set with a nice dinner and I realize the butter is hard as a rock in the fridge. I pull it out, cut off a square and toss it into the microwave. There it softens into an unusable pool :(
Not anymore!
Take your butter you want softened and place it between 2 sheets of wax paper. Use your rolling pin and roll the butter flat. When you are done scoop the butter off the paper and transfer to a dish and serve! Its that easy and it actually works!

  1. I always have a dish of butter sitting at room temperature. Then I don't have to worry about softening it. I usually only have one cup or less out at a time. I just keep it sealed and in the cupboard.
I'll keep the wax paper trick in mind for when my cupboard butter is out and I forget to re-stock it, though... good idea! :)

  2. Yup on the counter works too! But in our house we dont use enough butter to do that. With one (hopefully temporary) dairy free child I use oil instead of butter in most things :) so its always hard as a rock in the fridge around here!
